Can You Catch Bass In Muddy Water?

Bass pictures The only thing worse than muddy water is cold muddy water when fishing for bass. But you can catch bass in muddy water. The water color may affect fishermen more than it does the fish. After all, they have to eat to stay alive no matter how muddy the water gets.

I try a variety of baits in muddy water. A tournament last year made me think about facing muddy water and how to approach it, and I got some advice from other fishermen, too.

Bass Fishing in muddy cold water conditions I have found the best results from fishing a bait that puts off a lot of vibration, one of my favorite is a 1/2 oz. Chartreuse Spinner bait with BIG COPPER COLORADO Blades…

You can fish it fast if the bass are feeding in shallow water or slow roll it, you can also yo-yo the spinner bait to flutter on the fall to let the blades clank together to make noise if the bite is slow but you need to be a line watcher fishing it on the fall…

Fishing muddy water a little current is a plus if you have access to that type of conditions or always look for that muddy water line that defines the muddy water from some clearer water, fishing muddy/clearer water separation line area seems to have a better chance to hold bass a lot of the time…

I won a bass tournament years ago fishing the Flooded Cypress Tree Swamps on Lake Marion of the Santee Cooper Lakes in SC fishing/throwing a chartreuse spinner bait with the big copper blades, weighed in 5 Fish @ 23+ lbs…

The water I was fishing looked like creamed coffee but fishing the base and roots of those cypress trees were holding fish…

Another great bait to fish in muddy conditions is a Rapala Jointed Minnow # 5 or #7 in FIRE TIGER color, it is one of my favorite go to baits because of the many ways to fish it, 4 to 10 feet depths and it suspends as well as any bait I have fished… It has great rattles, puts off a lot of vibration and when fishing cold muddy water you will find most of the STRIKES happen when the BAIT IS STOPPED > Rip it then STOP IT at least 5 seconds and hold on…

Thanks !!
