There is much outcry from both conservative and liberal groups about the possibility of Obama banning sport fishing. An ESPN blog got it started and many on both sides have run with it. The controversy revolves around the ending of the public comment period for a policy group studying what to do about fishing zones and where you can and can not fish.
Fishing has already been banned by the Bush administration in some areas. This was done supposedly to protect endangered or threatened fish species. One comment on the liberal Media Matters site asks "When did fishing become a right?" Actually, many states, including mine here in Georgia, have passed constitutional amendments that say hunting and fishing is a right.

Unfortunately there is always some bleeding heart liberal popping up trying to tell people how to live.
Banning Fresh Water Fishing is one of the strangest ye!
Most of us practice “Catch and Release” fishing now and take care of the fish so that they are not hurt and will continue to grow.
I think we should write that guy on Penn. ave and explain that good fisherman respect the fish and use intelligence when enjoying the sport!

Fishing to me and my wife and to many others in the country an extreme stress reliever. We enjoy getting out and away from the daily struggle of city life and just enjoy what “God” has created here on “Earth” Whoops! Did I mention the “G” word in my comment. Guess my comment will be cut by a liberal. Anyways, “God, our Heavenly Father” created this “World” and wants those of us to want to live to enjoy and be happy, and I intend on doing exactly that. Far as government/politics they need to quit, becaseu they are dwfinitely not a head in the game of managing life or this country. We the sportsmen/women, the great Wildlife Conservation of our natural habitat having been doing a “Great” job at cleaning, building, and preservating the natural wildlife for the all, and yes this includes the liberials too. There are many ohters things in this country to worry and manage like; National Debit, unemployment, homeless, health care, transportation, cover-up of bad politics, etc… I think everyone gets the idea. The government can’t handle the listed. But, we as Wildlife Conservation have doing exremely well without the butting noses of the government. I am a “Country Boy at Birth and Heart. I can Survive!”

Once these groups get everything banned that people enjoy they will want a ban on everyone protesting to get it changed back. I want this banned because you enjoy it and I don’t, I want this banned because….. etc, etc, etc. It’s getting ridiculous..
