Tennessee Handle on a Fishing Rod

Tennessee handles on spinning rods are very popular. There is no real seat or mechanical device for attaching the reel. You just tape the reel to the rod handle. This saves weight and you can place the reel anywhere on the handle for balance.

I have a few of these tennessee handle rods made from Lews back in the 70’s, all grafite (sp) the marine tape is what i use to seat reel on handle, no stickyness in heat etc.
I would use these for ultra-lights, but for larger reels and heavier line, when I’m expecting to fight large fish that pull harder, I am more confident in mechanical reel seats.
Im Looking for a lews 5′ 4″ ultra lite rod made by lews, mine split on the end 15 years ago. I realy liked it but can’t find one any where,IT’s a tennessee Handle. If any one knows where I can find one, my E- Mail is ADoughboy2@aol.com Thanks, Jerry

There are tapes available made for attatching to tennessee handles. Check the catalogs. Don’t use the products myself but have been told they are pretty good. May I suggest to Jerry to find a local guy who makes custom rods. You might find out his prices are on the same lines as the big boys and he can put exactly what you nedd into your hands.
I would like to find some of these rods
