Need some help choosing a line? Here are some good tips on how to pick the right one for your fishing conditions. Remember, your line is the connection between you and the fish so it can be considered the most important of your fishing tackle.

Forgot to mention line test. So many times I have been asked why I use such small line, meaning line test I assume. In fact I don’t.
As in line type, the pound test is also important. Don’t spool up with 20# mono to fish for perch or other panfish when 4 or 6 will do. This also has to do with conditions, as mentioned. Wlhen fishing rough structure a heavier line may be needed than if you are fishing a relatively clean bottom. What I’m trying to say is get used to using the lightest line for the conditions you are fishing.

I agree – use the lightest line possible and enjoy the fight more.
