Is A Kayak Made For Fishing the Right Fishing Boat For You?

Thursday October 1, 2009
Have you ever fished from a kayak? There are many reasons to use one for fishing but there are some disadvantages, too. And if you try to use the wrong kind of kayak you will have a much more difficult time.

Several companies make kayaks designed for fishermen and the Hobie Mirage Pro Fisherman is a top-of-the-line model that makes kayak fishing easier. It is designed with rod and tackle holders built in, the steering system avoids exposed ropes and cables so you won't get tangled in them and the Mirage propulsion system means you can move the boat without paddles.

Tell us your kayak fishing experiences in the comments section below. Is A Kayak Made For Fishing the Right Fishing Boat For You?

Considered a kayak but finally went with the Fish Hunter inflatable by Sevylor. Has been fantastic fishing the New, Greenbrier, South Branch and other rivers here in WV. No downside as two of us float these rivers up to and including Class III sections. Of course it is slower but perfect for us as we “lollygag” along and enjoy the pools in areas like “The Trough” where it proves to be the perfect platform for great eagle photos. We paddle rather than row and average about 1 mph.
