Patterning bass means figuring out where they are likely to be based on time of year, water temperature and other factors. They you go out and catch a few and that further refines your pattern so you can home in on the kinds of places the bass are likely to be that day on that lake.
Professional bass fishermen can quickly pattern bass to improve their catches. Some fishermen seem to be able to pattern bass after just one or two fish. It takes me much longer than that to figure them out.
