Ban Fishing

Saturday April 18, 2009
Some folks don't eat meat - which is fine until they tell me I can't eat meat. Some folks don't go fishing and that does not bother me a bit - until they try to stop me from going fishing. If you are not familiar with some of the animal rights groups and their goals you should try to find out what these folks are trying to do to stop fishing.

Ronnie,
Why not, stop fishing…..as a country we are coming apart at the seams….these people, that are proponants of these stupid ideas need help with a lot of things, including, among them their memory
Some of the diciples were fisherman, and Christ himself fed the multitude with a few fish…..not to even mention that we were given domain over these creatures….It seems that these folk don’t have anything else to do but find a way of finding out how wrong God was when He gave us these things to oversee and eat…but then again they never think about God until we have a 9-11,or a Virginia Tech either

Ronnie:
Heard about the law in Switzerland outlawing catch and release? C&R has been banned in Switzerland because it is cruel to the fish. Now a fish must be “quickly and humanely dispatched immediatly” Not sure where I read this but it was not on the ‘net, it was published in I believe the Chicago Sun Times. Talk about misguided!

PETA will be taking a stand against your rights as long as you let them. What I would like to know is when they, and other groups claim the ability to pay high priced lawyers to enforce their perversion on the rest of America whly don’t we hear from lawyers who are sportsman? We are under attack and need their help! If you are an attourney and a sportsman where is the pro-bono work being done. Most of us on the riverbank or in the woods have given all we can. Boycott the antis. Their list of major donators are available on their websites. These people are mostly entertainers, and strange celebrities. Their incomes depend on everyday citizens, start taking that away and the antis cannot survive.

Actualy you don’t have a “right” to fish..at least with guns we have the second amendment…fishing no such protection. SAD!

In Most of the US we do have the “right” to hunt, trap and fish. These rights are not protected in a defined way as guns are in the second amendment. But they are protected in many ways by state laws, not federal as in a constitutional amendment. There is where we are under attack. If this is not happening in your state feel fortunate, but send lawyers and money the guns will be under attack later, if not now. Your pursuit of life, liberty and happiness is in danger. Many states in the last few years have put into their constitutions what are called hunter rights laws which are all encompassing where hunting, fishing and trapping are concerned. You do have the right to fish until your state legislators cave in to these phoneys. Hey by the weekend in the midwest we are supposed to be in the seventies! The best way to fight the nuts is to go fishing. May I suggest everyone nationwide make a point to go fishing this weekend. Earth day is also coming up, a good time to fish and reflect.

Hi Tom

Yes, I have heard about the ban on catch and release - I posted an article here about it. Maybe that is where you saw it?

Georgia is one of the states where we got a constitutional amendment passed saying we do have a right to hunt and fish - it passed overwhelmingly a couple of years ago. Hope it helps protect us a little. But like lots of other stuff they will take it away incrementally, probably at the federal level.
