Fizzing Bass

Saturday October 11, 2008
What is fizzing bass? It is a method of inserting a needle into the air bladder of a fish to release pressure. Fish caught from deep water and reeled to the surface fast build up pressure in thier air bladder and can not swim. They turn belly up and many will die if released. So you need to fizz them to release the pressure before releasing them.

During the winter alot of time is spent spooning for bass in 20-30 feet of water. I have found that if you don’t hurry them up off the bottom there will be no need to fizz them. I do have a hyperdermic needle in my tackle box but seldom have to use it.
