Brainstorming Fishing Lures - Banjo Minnow

Friday July 18, 2008
Do you ever make your own fishing lures? Sometimes you can get good ideas from other lures or some idea you have all on your own. And sometimes the lures work as you expect them. It is a great feeling catching fish on something you came up with. Macon1 wrote on the forum how he modifies a Zoom Speed Worm to make it catch more fish for him, making it into a new bait. Share your thoughts on making your own fishing l ures in the comments section below.

I’m sure that most anglers have heard of wacky rigging a “senko” type bait and will probably admit that it works. They will probably also say that they like it except that the baits tear easily and are only good for 1 or 2 fish. My secret is using an o-ring. They come in kits of several sizes to fit just about all sizes.Find a size that is just a little bit smaller than the bait you are using. Pull the o-ring down toward the middle of the bait and hook the o-ring instead of the bait itself. I use this method and it has saved me a bunch of worms. Good luck and practice catch and release.

Good tip – I will have to give it a try. What kind of hook do you use?

I usually use 2/O extra wide gap (red).

Great idea. It works fine.
As a bonus for my less active customers,
I offer a pre-made drop-shot rig using the same Wacky method of hooked worm. The Angler sits back & waits for the fish to do all the work.
Great for those lazy summer days when the fish can go neutral on you.
