Mounting Fish

Tuesday February 26, 2008
I have several mounted bass on teh wall at my house. Two of them died after being caught in a tournament. Another is the first eight pounder I caught. But my biggest bass, a 9 pound 7 ounce bass, was released after weighing it in a tournament. I had a replica mount made of it and am satisfied with the results.

I also have one at 7.5 pounds on the wall caught in Orange Lake near Gainesville Florida in 1982 . It was my 1st big bass and I was excited to have it mounted. Then I started to tournament fish and realized the importance of catch and release so that future bass fishermen can also enjoy the thrill of catching the big ones.

I have released 2 over 10, 2 over 9 and several over 7-8 pounds. The single one on the wall is plenty, in fact if I knew then what I know now, a replica would be my choice : )
