Friday January 25, 2008
Joel Pasch caught this 55" Longnose Gar on the Flint River near Griffin, Georgia on 8-17-07. He was using white nylon rope as the "bait" and the gar's teeth tangled in the frayed rope. Gargetters makes a lure like this for sale but you can make your own. Gar are fun to catch and some say they are good to eat. Longnose gar like this one get big, the record is 28 pounds, but not nearly as big as alligator gar that grow to hundreds of pounds.
