Wild Critters

Thursday September 13, 2007
Wild critters have always interested me and I like to identify what I see. I have several books that help me know what they are and the internet can help, too. Pay attention to what is in your surroundings when you fish and see what you can identify.

(1) Brian Knippers says:

Wild critters are also good bait..!! On numerous occasions I have trapped my own bait and been extremely successful fishing a body of water while my friends were getting little to no action on their artificial lures. There was an article in Bassmaster last year that discussed the minor variations between live bait and artificial lures and how studying the critters and creatures in the lake or pond you’re fishing helps to identify the subtleties and in turn helps you catch more fish. It’s not that important when they’re biting everything and anytyhing but when the bass get lock jaw (we’ve all been there) it helps to have an intimate knowledge of color, spots, critter population in and around the pond, etc..

Good luck, tight lines and happy fishing.
