Finding "A Honey Hole" - Part 1

Tuesday September 11, 2007
Finding a "Honey Hole," a place where fish are stacked up and bite cast after cast, is a rare and wonderous thing for me. The bass pros seem to be able to find them consistently, but I depend on luck to find mine. Over the years some stand out in my memory.

Honey holes are a beautiful thing. Don’t forget to have your gps. It can be almost impossible to find deep water structure again. The spot within the spot can be so small. Another good tip for finding some hot spots is to hire a guide for an upcoming cold front. Most guides won’t admit that they have special spots in case all else fails. During a cold front, they will most likely hit their first few spots. If fishing is slow, you get to find their honey holes. Overall, it might be a slow day, but it will be well worth the money to learn their honey holes.

Good comments - and I agree on the GPS. I have three and have waypoints saved all over all the waters I fish.
