Catching Fish - Catching Three 12 Pound Fish

Sunday October 1, 2006
Catching a fish weighing 12 pounds is not hard if you fish in saltwater. It is a little more difficult in freshwater. In my 50 years of fishing I have caught five fish over 12 pounds. Three of them weighed in the 12 pound range - a catfish, a gar and a grouper. OK - I cheated a little on the grouper and caught it in saltwater.

I’m shocked. Only 3 fish over 12 pounds. I’ve caught over 25 salmon in the last 3 weeks that have been over 12 pounds. You have to do some salmon fishing in the Great Lakes or maybe you should visit Alaska during the summer runs. Huge fish, great fights and many fish over 12 pounds with some over 20, 30, and maybe even 40 if you hit it right.
