Weekly Fishing Trivia Contest

By , About.com GuideSeptember 25, 2006

Follow me on:

Last Friday I was notified by About.com that I could no longer run this contest. I have had a lot of fun with it during the past nine years and hate to see it go, but last week's contest was the last one. Everyone that sent in the correct answer last week gets some fishing lures - I sent you an email with instructions to claim your lures.

Thank all you loyal folks that have entered week after week. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I have. Please keep in touch. I especially liked the personal comments on many of the email entries and will respond to any questions or comments you have in the future.

Good luck fishing!

Hey, you have a great blog here! I’m definitely going to bookmark you!

I have a Bass Fishing site. It pretty much covers Bass Fishing.

Come and check it out if you get time ;)

I fish for anything that will bite – crappie are just about my favorite to eat. Some of the prizes here, like the Dick Nite spoons, work well for crappie.

Do these comments keep posting automatically? Perhaps there is a back-office problem? ;)

I keep updating this blog on the contest, changing the dates, so the comments stay with it when I renew the date and bring it back to the top each week.

This is totally ridiculous that after 9/NINE YEARS, they NOW want you to stop a contest that everyone enjoyed!

Thats really cruddy. I have new products coming that I KNOW you’re readers wouldn’t mind having. Crankbaits, spinner baits, spinner rigs, minnows… you name it.

I wonder what their deal was?

This was a good thing. Not sure of the reason, but too bad its over. Had a great time playing contest.

There were legal concerns about contest so all guides were told to stop them on all sites. Blanket rule that affected everyone, not just this site that was singled out.

The awarding of prizes was the problem. I have been told I could keep running the contest if no prizes are given. I will email each person who entered last week and survey them to see if anyone is interested in keeping it going if the only “prize” is getting the winner’s name in the blog each week. Let me know what you think.

Hello, I think your website might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your website in Chrome, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, fantastic blog!

I think that may have something to do with screen size or browser version. I will try to send this to our tech support.
Thanks.

Hi there! I could have sworn I’ve been to this blog before but after reading through some of the post I realized it’s new to me. Nonetheless, I’m definitely happy I found it and I’ll be book-marking and checking back frequently!

Glad you like it – comments welcome. I was surprised you found this old one and responded to it. The contest has been gone for years.
