Fishing for Bedding Bass

Monday April 3, 2006
The 25 pound bass caught in California was snagged while on the bed. Is it ethical to fish for bedding bass? In some states it is legal, in others it is illegal. What do you think? Post your comments below with this new tool. Just click on comments.

I don’t think it is ethical or sportsmanlike to fish for bedding bass. Wouldn’t you rather catch a bass when it has a fighting chance, rather than when it is trying to spawn??

trying for bedding fish is more like hunting than fishing.

Nother wrong with either…. but it’s not the same sport.

While unethical and unsportsman like, the state law has final say. I am not familiar with California law but some states allow fishing for bedding fish and some do not. The same goes for snagging. In my view, no new record.
